3.5 EcoBoost 4x4 EXT EL or some super long acronym for a super long truck. All of our gear fit in the back without folding down the middle seats.
I always liked the Expeditions as trucks and as rentals, but the new prices are ridiculous Land Cruiser money. It is comfy and huge and luxurious.

Thats the out going gen. How was it to drive? I never agreed with something as small as the 3.5 being in something this big.

Feels like an F150. Not fast, but competent. It is a big vehicle, but as far as the motor, I’d take the 3.5 turbo over the old 5.4. Neither was quick, but could pull well enough. The 500lbs of cargo and 2 adults didn’t make too much of a difference to it. Didn’t try towing, but as a people hauler, I’d give a thumbs up.

I had one a couple of months ago. It was surprisingly strong. Even fully loaded with people, it pulled hard enough to make people yelp in surprise.

WTF are you talking about?
I don’t know about you, but in my world $52,000 is a lot less than $84,000.

yes, yes, I know, if you start with an Expedition Platinum Max and check every single option box and every dealer-install accessory, you might just barely reach the STARTING PRICE of a Land Cruiser. ‘cos we all know Ford is holding a gun to your head, forcing you to buy a fully-loaded Expedition.
nevermind the fact that you’ll probably never actually pay sticker on an Expedition.

Thanks to Hurricane Harvey, I got a chance the explore almost the entire spectrum of long wheel base full-size suvs.
Note: I own a Navigator L with the 5.4 V8.
Note 2: All of them were courtesy of National Car rental. A an amazing rate too.
1) Chevy Suburban - SFO - 4 days - all over the city. Big and comfortable.
2) Yukon XL - SFO to LA - 1 day - 400 miles. Big an comfortable. we averaged 22.4 mpg driving with traffic/.
3) Expedition EL 3.5 ecoboost - 4 days in LA - Almost better than my Navigator (V8)in performance but dismal fuel economy. especially when compared with the Suburban.
